The creation of Super Rhapsody required years of patient pearl stewardship, exceptional grading skill and visionary composition. Each pearl is selected by eye and strung by hand using the world’s most precise and reliable strand stringing technique, delivering movement, balance and enduring form.

The Rhapsody series was born of a passion to explore the expressive potential of pearl strands beyond perfect uniformity – embracing fluidity, shape and organic rhythm. These strands celebrate free-form pearl shapes such as Keshi and Circle, designed with the intention of movement and versatility. 

 

Super Rhapsody is an evolution of this idea, composed entirely of perfectly round pearls. Premiering as the first of its kind, movement is found not in contrasting shapes but in the subtle undulation of size. It is a composition in pure form, moving with quiet brilliance.

YEARS IN THE MAKING

Crafting a strand of this calibre is the result of vision, patience, and an enduring quest for perfection.

 

Over 10 years, a trove of gem-quality pearls (the highest natural lustre grade) were carefully reserved, each hand-selected for their perfection across the Five Virtues. 

 

Only Paspaley Master Pearlers can enjoy access to Australian South Sea pearls of this calibre. Pearl grading, matching, placement and composition of this globally important strand was a six month process.


Paspaley’s Master Stringers then drilled and knotted each pearl using Paspaley’s proprietary stringing method to achieve seamless movement and enduring form, the ideal balance of tension and fluidity.

Super Rhapsody is hallmarked with a natural Argyle pink diamond; laser engraved with the Paspaley Strand Signature® and a unique identifying serial number – an heirloom of lasting provenance.

Super Rhapsody invites sartorial versatility. The strand may be styled as one continuous rope or separated into a trio of individual strands in choker, princess, and matinee length.  

 

Paspaley’s invisible and seamless pearl key clasps allow the composition to be reimagined and personalised, evolving with the wearer’s mood and need.

ONE TREASURE DESERVES ANOTHER

To honour a creation of this importance, Super Rhapsody is presented in the Paspaley Stairway to the Moon box – a bespoke wooden treasure case as poetic and rare as the strand within.

 

"Stairway to the Moon” is drawn from a natural phenomenon unique to Paspaley’s home in Australia’s northwest. As the full moon rises over Broome’s tidal flats, its reflection stretches across the water in a rippling illusion – a luminous staircase climbing skyward. This mesmerising event, visible only in select locations along the Kimberley coast, feels at once celestial and deeply grounded – a moment of quiet awe.

 

The Stairway to the Moon box is handcrafted in Paris, lacquered with gold leaf and inlaid with Paspaley Mother-of-Pearl – befitting a pearl strand composed to endure for generations.

Super Rhapsody is one of the most significant pearl rope strand necklaces created by Paspaley in recent memory. A GIA certified “Super Strand”, it is composed of 112 gem-grade, perfectly round South Sea pearls.

 

Gem grade Paspaley Pearls are flawless to the naked eye, cannot be predicted in the harvest and account for only a minute fraction of pearls discovered each year. 

 

Graduating from 9mm to 17mm in gentle undulation, this unique Rhapsody strand speaks to fluidity - the endless crescendo and release of waves - the breath and heartbeat of the ocean, where our pearls are nurtured and grow.
