The Australian South Sea Pearl
Australian South Sea pearls are revered for their extraordinary size and quality. Cultivated in the remote waters of North Western Australia, they display remarkable natural lustre and colour. Paspaley is globally recognised as the leading authority on Australian South Sea pearls.
Established in 1935 by Nicholas Pasley Snr, Paspaley has pioneered the Australian pearling industry for over 90 years and remains a family-owned company. Today, we are one of the last pearlers in the world to hand-collect wild pearl oysters, showcasing Paspaley’s continual and respectful partnership with the marine environment.
Each pearl grows inside the Pinctada maxima pearl oyster for two to three years. When a Paspaley Pearl emerges, it is left in its natural state, never bleached, dyed or artificially enhanced. Every pearl selected for Paspaley jewellery designs is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, affirming its natural colour, unenhanced lustre and origin.

Nurtured by Nature
While gemstones such as natural diamonds are mined and cut, pearls are grow organically within the mother shell. To cultivate a pearl, a single nucleus is placed inside the oyster. Over time, the oyster coats the nucleus with two to three thousand layers of translucent nacre – the lustrous substance that gives pearls their mirror-like glow. The result is an enduring cultured pearl that radiates natural colour and lustre from within.
